  i just had an invite to a district convention later this month in calgary (i guess they get to clean up the saddledome before the stampede, lol).. they gave me a leaflet asking "why did jesus come to earth?

  " so i asked them "so why did he come?".

  "well, he came to save us".

  when i lived in los angeles, i was an art consultant with creative galleries.

  among other things, we sold and rented art to movie studios.i worked with the set decorators who picked out whatever was needed.

  Hey Terry, that was one of my favorite shows. He became even more famous in the Spanish Novelas. Here is a little history for Eric.

  Later in 1979, Estrada was voted one of "The 10 Sexiest Bachelors in the World" by People magazine and was featured on the cover of the November issue

  In the 1990s, Estrada played the role of Johnny, a Tijuana trucker, in the Televisa telenovela Dos mujeres, un camino ("Two women, one road"). Originally slated for 100 episodes, the show went to 400-plus episodes and became the biggest telenovela in Latin American history. He was reportedly paid one million dollars for that role.

  Our hall is asking for money...

  i guess the branch isn't happy with the amount being sent each month since we are way lower than our loan amount.

  we now have to another financial survey to see the max amount that can be given.

  it is "encouraged" for all to be in attendance and give much forethought and consideration to the amount you can donate each month.

  So, what happens if a congregation does not have enough funds to cover local expenses, utilities, supplies, etc? Let's say they have asked the "friends" for additional funds, still not enough. Will WT help the congregation?

  Has anyone experienced this type of situation?

  Yes, about 4 years back, The WT just stopped sending literature. After about 2 or 3 months the problem was resolved and they started send it again. Just like getting behind on your house payment, it's better to work with you and keep the payment coming.

  Thought Regarding OT Nation of Israel & Kings

  sorry when my mind wanders during indoctrination sessions i come up with this crap.. so i was thinking, when the hebrews wanted a king to be like all the other awesome nations around them, correct me if i am wrong, but god wasn't with it?

  that was their idea, and another thing he "allowed".

  now typically when man decided to go by their own wisdom against god's direction he'd wash his hands of it and completely step away and let them do it on their own.

  When you start reading Jewish history, you start realizing that the accounts dealing with the failure of the nation had to be explained in a way to shift the blame on something that sounded reasonable to persons who believed the Creator and God of all the Universe was working "ONLY" with the nation of Israel. What better explanation than to say, "The people wanted a King so we got in trouble"

  It's better than saying, "God didn't really talk to us, the truth of the matter is that Other nations like the Philistines, Assyria, Babylon, etc. were just more powerful and capable than us and that's why we were being beaten by these other nations."

  Even today, when people are struck with some type of misfortune, they try to explain it away by saying something like, "We slacked off in our worship, or we sinned and now we are paying the price.

  If God was really having a conversation with the Nation of Israel and was working ONLY with them, wouldn't the most powerful and wise Creator in the Whole Universe tell the Nation, "Hey, your wrong in wanting a King, so I will tell you straight out--NO-WAY!

  Isn't that what we as parents would do if our 10 year old kid wanted a high speed motorcycle- NO WAY!

  Instead of letting him crash and get maimed and then saying, You wanted a motorcycle so that's what you get!

  Plastic surgery prize for beauty pageant winner?

  this is a bizarre story where a university held a beauty pageant in a night-club and the winners received vouchers for plastic surgery.. ok, apart from the wildly out of date neanderthal concept of lining girls up to rank their attractiveness and treat them as objects, the prizes simply make no sense.. surely those ranked right at the bottom should be the candidates for cosmetic surgery?

  if someone is already beautiful, don't mess with it!.

  Most people these days that enter beauty contests are extremely concerned with personal features that were not even considered in the past. Like a different nose, different chin, more defined cheekbones, fuller lips, and of course the big bosom. So to the winners it's a big deal because now they can get lips like Angelina Jolie.   it's time for me and the mrs. to get the hell outta dodge.

  recently my hall has undergone major management changes and the atmosphere is..less than ideal.

  i'm getting multiple calls a week asking to set up a time to meet, i've politely declined but these guys aren't taking a hint.

  You could also do the maniac card. Awhile back, a publisher told the body of elders that he had to change congregations because he was getting "weird thoughts" of buying a gun and shooting all the elders and their families when they least expected it.

  They never bothered him after that.

  When I switch, I went across the city to a different language. I introduced myself to the elders and told them how happy I was to be attending ":Their" KH. I told them that at this point I do travel quite a bit for work. (Which was a fake out) Made sure my Publisher cards were transferred, after about 5-6 weeks of attending only on Sundays, I stopped and never went back, changed my phone number and It's been almost 2 years. Make sure they transfer your cards or they can still get a hold of you.
